Owen Elzo Fay - Born 1/13/08 at 6:34pm

Well after the beginnings of labor on Friday night at 9pm and three seperate hospital visits Katie gave birth to Owen Elzo Fay on Sunday 1/13/08 at 6:34pm. He is 8lbs 12-1/4oz. and 22 inches long. Baby and Mom are doing well! They are both a little tired but are enjoying their new time together on the "outside." Owen is named after his Great-Grandfather with his middle name, Elzo Powell, my (C.J.) grandfather on my mother's side. We are very excited to share these photos and many more with all of our family and friends. Thanks for all your prayers, calls, emails and text messages. We feel very loved and are excited to have you all meet Owen soon.

Love,
C.J, Katie and Owen

32 Week Check-up

We had 2 appointments this morning - 1 with the Perinatologist and 1 with the OB. Both went well. Baby Fay still has Pylectasis (enlarged kidneys). Neither doctor is too concernced because the measurements of his kidneys have not increased. The Perinatologist will see me again in 4 weeks to measure the kidneys one last time. Thank you for your prayers! As far as other measurements, he still has a big head :( and is still measuring a little ahead of schedule. They estimated his weight to be 4lbs.13oz at this time. 8+ weeks to go!

Baby Room - No more pink!

Last weekend C.J. got kicked out of the house! After C.J. put 3 coats of primer over the once hot pink walls, sister-in-laws Nancy and Dori came over to paint and decorate the baby room. We have gone with a jungle theme as you can see. It turned out so cute! We owe Nancy and Dori big time! Thanks girls!

28 Weeks

We had our 28 week check up today with the Parinatologist and the OB. I had a dream this last week that we had a girl so C.J.'s first question was, "Can you confirm that we still have a boy?" I think he was a bit concerned about my dream :) Rest assured, both the sonographer and the doctor confirmed we still have a boy!
Baby's kidneys are still enlarged (Pyelectosis). Both doctors still don't seem too concerned but want to keep an eye on things. I will have another ultrasound at 32 weeks and again at 36 weeks. As long as the kidneys don't get any bigger, they will just go with putting the baby on an antibiotic at birth. We also found out that we have "accelerated fetal growth", in other words, a big baby! I am 28 wks. and he is measuring just over 30 wks. Yes, he also has a big head (he wouldn't be a "fayby" without it). I think he has C.J.'s lips and my nose. We'll see!
My sweet tooth has not gone away but I am still doing fine with my weight gain. I had a random craving for corn dogs a couple of weeks ago but that seems to have subsided.
C.J. just about sent me into pre-term labor this week. He was in Chicago on business and not supposed to get home until Thursday night. At about 11:20 on Wednesday night I thought someone was trying to break in and after not being able to reach Siege on his cell, I panicked and called 911. After giving the dispatcher my information and him insisting that I calm down and reassuring me he would stay on the phone with me until the police arrived, the "intruder" finally got in with a dozen roses. Poor guy! Just trying to surprise his wife and she over reacted! I had to explain to the dispatcher as well as the policeman that showed up at our door after shining his flashlight on our house as well as the neighbor's, that yes, C.J. really was my husband, not an intruder :)

Faby's Favorites!

So far the baby likes music (no surprise there) and loves chocolate. Also last night when I was sleeping I was startled awake by singing from my belly. It sounded something like this "Bear Down Chicago Bears, Make Every Play Clear the Way to Victory!......" It then ended with a hardy laugh and a "Go Bears!".

He must know it is football season!

It's in My Belly! ( In a scottish accent)

My Belly is round like a basketball right now and the baby is kicking me!
